The exchange rate with the Canadian dollar pretty much rocks right now, making a summer vacation in Canada 30% less expensive than traveling in the United States. 

No Paris trip in your future? A visit to Montreal will have you oh la la-ing over the gorgeous architecture, cobblestone streets, sidewalk cafes, and buzzy restaurants. 

My pick to stay with the family is the fashionable, yet kid-friendly, Ritz-Carlton, Montréal. Without the kids, nothing tops the boutique gem, Hôtel Le St-James.
